15 Puzzle

15 Puzzle, sometimes called the 14-15 Puzzle is a tile sliding puzzle. The tray of numbers has enough space for 16 tiles but the puzzle has only 15. That leaves enough space to move around the tiles to jumble and then solve the puzzle.

Half of the possible tile permutations cannot be solved. This means that, if you were to remove the tiles and replace their positions at random, you have a 50-50 chance of being able to solve the puzzle. For that reason, it is best to jumble the puzzle from solved.

The first two rows of the puzzle are quite easy to solve. You place the first two numbers in position and can do so quite easily. After placing the 1 and 2, put the number 4 in the 3 position and place the number 3 below it. You can then slide both pieces into place. Do something similar with the second row. The last two rows of the puzzle can be solved without moving the tiles in the first two rows.
